Digitalisation is advancing and simply “making radio” is usually no longer enough. To make our radio visible we also have to be present on social media and keep the followers happy. But not only social media is an important challenge for us, also internal public relations. How do we best reach our programme makers? What tools are helpful for this?

In addition to the various technically oriented groups that are already underway, we would like to encourage a regular exchange around these questions and tasks as a building block in our “danube streamwaves digital” project.

We kicked off with an online meeting on 09.12.2020, which was attended by free FM and radio colleagues from Budapest, Linz and Vienna. The meeting opened with a detailed presentation of the protocol tool “INFO HUB” developed by free FM as an example of organised internal and external communication. After the presentation, the topics of podcast distribution as well as the organisation and sending of newsletters were addressed.

The interest in expanding this group and aiming for regular meetings was there and was sealed by fixing a follow-up date on 20 January 2021. The topics for this next meeting were podcast localisation and the issues surrounding the promotion of on-air/podcast episodes.

The meeting was held in English throughout and will be repeated once in German in January before the next English-language one, to possibly attract more people to the round.
